General Info

County Veterinary Hospital is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care.  We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with local practices when special diagnostic procedures are required. The facility includes a well-stocked pharmacy, in-hospital surgery suite, in-house x-ray capabilities, a closely supervised hospitalization area, and indoor boarding kennels with outdoor walking areas.

The County Veterinary Hospital has been accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).  Only 15 percent of all small animal veterinary practices in the U.S. have achieved accreditation by AAHA. AAHA-accredited hospitals voluntarily choose to be evaluated on 900 standards in the following areas: quality of care, diagnostic & pharmacy, management, medical records, and facility

Dr. Joel Mann earned his DVM in 1987 from The University of Florida.  In 1997 Dr. Mann became part of a small group of veterinarians across the country who have earned the title "Diplomate" from the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP), certified in canine and feline practice.  This means that Dr. Mann made a choice to undergo a long, very difficult process that took several years to complete -- to become a "Board Certified Specialist".  ABVP Diplomates have proven knowledge and expertise above and beyond what is required to practice veterinary medicine.

Dr. Mann's interests are in Dentistry and surgery.  He is a strong believer in continuing education for himself and his staff.

Dr. Mann is pictured here with his cat Crash.  Dr. Mann's family includes his wife Kim, his children Matt and Alison, and his 6 cats.  He enjoys skiing (at Mad River Glen), exercising and spending time with his family.

Dr. Mark Steckroat graduated from Delaware Valley College in 1985 with a B.S. in Biology.  He then went to the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and received his VMD in 1990.  After graduation he worked in a farm animal practice in Pennsylvania for 2 years before switching to exclusively small animal practice.  His most memorable experience was treating a severe case of milk fever in a dairy cow and watching it recover quickly, and immediately start nursing its newborn calf.  Dr. Steckroat's interest is in ear medicine and surgery.

Dr Steckroat's family includes his wife Leslie, who homeschools their son Bryce, and is also team mother for Bryce's hockey team.  The Steckroats also have four cats: Timber, Dixie, Kami and Kody and Taley, a Black Lab.

Dr. Steckroat's hobbies include cooking, woodworking, Prop building (for Dramas), sports, and working with various charities.

Dr. Peter Betz graduated from Cook College, Rutgers University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science.  He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1995 from Michigan State University.  Dr. Betz has been practicing veterinary medicine for 14 years in several different practices throughout New Jersey.  He has experience treating small animals, pocket pets, and reptiles.  His interests include a broad range of all aspects in general veterinary medicine.

Dr. Betz’s family includes his wife, Cindy, his five cats Chloe, Nigel, Chief, Peepers, and Nuts, a Greyhound named Slim, a Labrador mix named Cameo, and a Beagle named Granny.  Dr. Betz enjoys beekeeping and has been harvesting honey for nine years.
